It is almost inevitable with any innovative project that some of the parts and components will be incompatible with some of the other parts and components. We have already come across this problem in the Mechanics section. A motor with a 2 mm output shaft has to drive a gear system based on 3 mm shafts, and sometimes our mechanism is held together by metric nuts and bolts plus a few rated in fractions of an inch.

The same happens in the electronics —for example, different components need different supply voltages. This is the first problem that must be sorted out.
